Reclaiming belonging
Therapy for Indigenous people in Ontario
You wake up already tired—not just from poor sleep, but from the weight of never feeling like you fully belong. Your apartment is quiet, but your mind isn’t. You check your phone. Nothing. Again.
It’s been weeks since you talked to family. And when you do, it’s… complicated. Comments that cut deep. Silences that speak volumes. Sometimes it feels easier to stay away.
At work, you blend in just enough to get by. But it’s lonely. You speak up in meetings and get overlooked. You scroll through social media and see other Indigenous folks who seem grounded, confident, proud. You want that. You just don’t know how to get there.
Sometimes, you think about your grandmother—the one person who made you feel fully seen. Since she passed, the distance from your family, your community, and even your own spirit feels wider than ever.
You want closeness, but the risk of being hurt (again) keeps you pulling away. Patterns repeat. And the question lingers:
Where do I belong? Who am I, really?
You deserve support that sees ALL of you
We offer therapy for Indigenous people in all of Ontario, virtually, or in person in Cambridge, who are navigating the pain of disconnection—from family, culture, and even self. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and left feeling unseen. Maybe you’ve been afraid to try, worried you’d have to explain too much—or shrink to fit.
You don’t have to explain everything here. You don’t have to translate or perform.
You just get to be.
Therapy that meets you where you are
Our approach is:
-
Culturally grounded
-
Genuinely trauma-informed
-
Rooted in cultural humility and relational healing
In our sessions, we might talk about anxiety, disconnection, grief, or identity. But we might also ask, “How’s your spirit today?” or invite you to explore your relationship with land, ancestors, or ceremony—only if and when you’re ready or if that feels right to you.
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in relationship. And our work together honours that truth.
What Healing Might Look Like for You
You might notice after just a few sessions:
-
A sense of lightness you haven’t felt in years
-
Less loneliness, more clarity
-
New insight into your story and your patterns
-
A quiet pride returning—to your voice, your culture, your identity
Over time, your relationships begin to feel more real. You begin to feel like you belong—not because you’ve changed, but because you’ve come home to yourself.
The in between spaces are sacred, too
You might feel invisible in white spaces but “not enough” in Indigenous spaces.
You might carry family stories filled with both love and pain.
You might feel both pride and confusion about who you are and where you come from.
You are not alone in these feelings. They make sense.
And they deserve space, compassion, and care.

FAQ
Do you only work with Indigenous clients?
We center Indigenous, Two Spirit, and culturally diverse adults in our work, but welcome anyone seeking healing through a culturally informed, relational lens.
Do I need to have a strong connection to my culture to start therapy?
Not at all. Whether you’re deeply connected, just beginning to explore, or feeling distant from your culture, this space welcomes you as you are.
I’ve had bad experiences with therapy before. How is this different?
We work with deep cultural humility, never assuming or minimizing your experience. You set the pace. You choose what you bring into the room. We also offer a free, initial consult with as many as our therapists as you want. You do not have to settle with the first one that you have a conversation with!
Will I have to talk about trauma right away?
No. We go gently and follow your lead. Safety and trust come first. It actually might feel like we aren’t doing “work” – it’s about relationship building instead of jumping headfirst into trauma central
Can therapy help if I’ve felt stuck for a long time?
Yes. Many of our clients arrive after years of struggle. The turning point isn’t how long it’s been—it’s choosing to start now.
Do you integrate cultural or spiritual practices?
We are open to weaving in land, ancestors, or traditional teachings when that feels right for you. We honor your cultural path and your autonomy.
Is this covered by insurance in Ontario?
Many extended health benefits cover therapy with a registered provider. We’re happy to help you check. If you are a Status Indian, have an N number through Nunavut land claims, are a member of the Metis Nation of Ontario, or are eligible under the Indian Residential School Support program, funding for therapy may be covered for you. We can talk about this in your initial consultation to see if any of these apply.
What if I’m not ready to commit to therapy yet?
That’s okay. You can start with a free consult and just talk. There’s no pressure, no expectation—just a conversation.
